DVDs - Yeah Baby!

Travis calls it our "one luxury", I call it "our collection". Yes, we have a lot of dvd's. If you consider the average price of a new dvd at the store is about $12 (new, recent, and/or old), it would look like we'd spent several thousand dollars on those dvds. Not so.

Our most favorite place to buy dvd's is columbiahouse.com. If you go to their website through a promotional email (or an email from us), you can get your first 6 dvd's for 49 cents each, and that includes free shipping. If you order a 7th dvd at that time, your 7th is only $9.99 and then to fulfill your membership agreement you only have to buy two more dvd's in the next two years at their regular prices ($19.95), which isn't bad considering that a new release even at Walmart is usually at least $15.72. So for those 9 dvd's, you would pay about $52.83 (average of $5.87 each). Yes, you do have to make sure to decline the 'director's selection' each month, but they send you an email to remind you and it takes about 15 seconds to do online. Then once you fulfill that agreement, you can call to cancel your membership, wait a few months (or as long as you'd like), and then sign up again to do it again.

Obviously this will only appeal to people who like to watch a movie more than once, but also consider that they have a great number of childrens' movies, fitness dvd's, etcetera. With the way that television is going to the dump these days (and there seem to be fewer and fewer good movies being made), we consider it a good investment. If you're interested, leave me a comment and I'll email you that link to check it out.

Another source for cheap movies is: www.deepdiscount.com :: they have good sales from time to time, so make sure to sign up for their emails (they also have music and books too, and always free shipping on everything).

There are a few other sources that I'm just not remembering right now, so I'll update this post later when I get those links set up.
